Job Description
Assisting the Goods in department with unloading/loading, checking, and entering stock into the system of delivered goods. Day-to-day duties will also include stock checks where required, general warehouse / Yard duties.
Key Duties
- To be able to work in a safe manner at all times, following all Health and Safety requirements.
- Unloading and unloading of from vehicles
- Operating a Counter Balance Forklift
- Checking all goods have arrived correctly, to include:
- Correct temperatures of chilled and frozen goods
- Correct stock items
- Pack sizes
- Weights
- Quantities
- Best Before dates
- Condition of packaging
- Pre-booking delivery slots and entering goods into our stock management system
- Assisting the Goods in department with spot stock checks when required
- Good attention to detail, cross-checking picked orders to ensure accuracy
- Basic knowledge and adherence to food hygiene, HACCP and health and safety best practice.
- A willingness to undertake new duties and be trained in new skills corresponding to the job as required
- Actively and routinely maintain the yard in a clean and orderly condition
- Assisting in performing inventory cycle counts and audits as directed by the manager
- Promote quality, responsibility and teamwork
- General warehouse duties including picking, packing, loading & unloading of vehicles and pallets
- Attending and participating in staff meetings, tool box talks, performance reviews and any other meetings as required by the Company.
Key Skills
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Basic food hygiene and H&S knowledge
- Good eye for detail
- Ability to lift objects up to 25 kilograms
- Good team worker
- Relentless attention to detail, accuracy and functionality; consistently demonstrating care and attention to the stock while fulfilling all other requirements
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain work standards under pressure, with a flexible approach as weekend working will be required
- Effective communication skills: listening, writing and speaking
- Inventory management experience is an asset
- A license to operate counter balance forklift truck is essential
- A license to operate a Reach forklift truck is desirable
- Strong sense of pride and a good work ethic
