Job Description

To manage and grow a territory of existing customers, to generate new business by selling a range of Ambient, Chilled, Frozen, Drinks, Cleaning & Non Food products. To increase the profitability of these accounts and achieve sales targets and GP in line with the company budget.

Quarterly Target – Min of base line to be met or exceeded each quarter.

Sales reports to be emailed over every Monday by 10.00 am with full detailed information on all accounts visited, including objective, follow up and outcome of the call.

All requested deadlines to be met in the timescales given by your Commercial Director.

Daily communication with your designated Telesales Operative. · Daily communication with your Line Manager.

Extensive knowledge of our full product range offering.

Comply with all HR, Health & Safety and general policies.

Key Duties

  • Account management of existing accounts by proactively seeking ways to maintain and increase sales and margin volumes.
  • Identify, target and convert prospect leads, down trading and dormant customers into new accounts.
  • Manage your prospect data base / pipeline and produce a business growth plan for your geographical area.
  • Operate a comprehensive call cycle, incorporating visiting your top spending accounts, new leads and potential sales opportunities within an agreed timescale.
  • Maintain an accurate account of all visits by completing all information on your weekly DSR.
  • New Business Target– min £2000 per month. NB This is in addition to any other individual new business targets given by your line manager and is subject to change / amendment depending on the size of your customer ledger.
  • Follow up all sales leads and referrals.
  • Exceed all sales, GP targets and KPIs set.
  • Repeat orders and retention plan for all new and existing business generated.
  • Taking orders from customers as required, ensuring these meet customers’ expectations and delivery requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver sales pitches and presentations as and when required.
  • Ensure full compliance on all sales, promotional and marketing activity.
  • Understand the competition in detail, monitoring and reporting on competitor activities, working with the site to ensure all objections are overcome.
  • To be able to identify and action trends from computer generated statistics.
  • Ensure full knowledge of the products and company features including competitive advantages, benefits and pricing.
  • Accountability of all customers, ensuring effective communication, complaint handling and providing solutions to ensure overall effective account management.
  • Communicating and working in partnership with your designated Telesales
  • Assistance in collection of outstanding when requested by the accounts department or management team.
  • Professional approach and appearance at all times, including company equipment i.e. car.
  • Completion in a timely manner of all reports required by the company, management and directors of the business.
  • Participation in all staff training, team meetings and all company events.
  • Monthly one on one meetings and quarterly appraisals to review and discuss performance and individual development plans.
