Job Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Junior Buyer

To assist the Purchasing Manager in stock ordering and replenishment, selecting and purchasing new products, and reviewing existing lines, working with suppliers to create strong working relationships with them, ensuring marketing money is secured from suppliers and ensuring the right products and volumes are stocked at the right time, at the right price.

  1. Previous experience in food procurement
  2. Strong decision maker
  3. Excellent attention to detail
  4. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills and proficiency using relevant IT software (Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook).
  5. Ability to cope under pressure
  6. Confident communicator

Key Duties

  1. Manage stock control, including stock ordering, stock replenishment and coordinate stock checks as necessary.
  2. Review our stock holding for potential additions and deletions.
  3. Track purchase orders, delivery dates and incoming deliveries and address any delays, ensuring all purchase orders are received and acknowledged from suppliers.
  4. Manage ‘At Risk’ products to minimise business exposure from slow selling lines
  5. Source supplier funding for short dated stock, slow moving, replacement stock and samples.
  6. Creating codes for new products.
  7. Managing and working with existing and new suppliers to meet customer demand, checking any new suppliers are accredited in line with Company Policy before agreeing to trade.
  8. Manage and work with designated suppliers with regards to price negotiations, NPD, promotional planning, product range, new products & de-listed products.
  9. Monitor suppliers to ensure contract terms and performance is continued, or improved satisfactory performance levels are achieved.
  10. Meet with suppliers on a regular basis and to negotiate local terms per annum.
  11. Track and manage national and local supplier terms ensuring all targets are met, where possible.
  12. Raise complaints with suppliers for incoming goods where orders are not delivered on time and in full.

  1. Reliable, focused and detailed orientated
  2. Someone who can take this role in their stride and put their positive stamp on their supplier portfolio
  3. Capable of working independently, but also part of a team within Trevors Foodservice
  4. Someone who is wanting to be a part of a fast growing business.
  5. Purchasing experience ( B2B Preferable )
  6. Ability to use Microsoft Packages
  7. Ability to build strong relationships
