Trevors Foodservice Reduces CO2 Emissions by 33%!

At Trevors Foodservice, we believe that sustainability is not just a buzzword but a responsibility we owe to our planet and future generations. We are thrilled to share some exciting news with our esteemed customers today: Trevor’s Foodservice has achieved an outstanding 33% reduction in CO2 emissions from 2019 to 2022. This remarkable accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and propels us further towards a more sustainable future.

By following the guidelines set forth by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol), while working with climate partner a leading solutions provider for climate action. We gained invaluable insights into the sources of emissions within our operations. Among the significant culprits were our vehicle fleet, refrigerant usage, and employee commuting.

Key Initiatives In Emission Reductions

To tackle these challenges head-on, we embraced a multi-faceted strategy that combined innovation, collaboration, and responsible practices. Here’s a closer look at the key initiatives that allowed us to achieve such remarkable emission reductions:

Optimising our Vehicle Fleet

We implemented efficient route planning systems. These efforts enabled us to minimise fuel consumption and reduce emissions significantly. Looking ahead, we are actively exploring alternative fuels, including electric and hybrid vehicles, to further decrease our carbon footprint and pioneer sustainable transportation solutions.

Transitioning to Sustainable Refrigerants

Recognising the environmental impact of refrigerants with high global warming potential, we made a conscious shift towards environmentally friendly alternatives. By proactively adopting greener refrigerants, we ensure that our operations align with the latest advancements in sustainability.

Promoting Sustainable Commuting Practices

We understand that employee commuting can have a substantial impact on our overall emissions. To address this, we’ve launched initiatives to promote sustainable commuting options such as carpooling, public transportation, and remote work arrangements. By incentivising and raising awareness among our employees, we strive to foster a culture of sustainable commuting and reduce our carbon footprint even further.

Combating Food Waste and Supporting Our Community

At Trevor’s Foodservice, we believe in responsible resource management. That’s why we’ve implemented robust programs to minimise food waste. Our surplus food is now donated to Blackpool Food Bank, ensuring that valuable resources are repurposed to fight food insecurity. Additionally, we’ve established comprehensive recycling practices for plastic, paper, and cardboard, promoting a circular economy and minimising waste sent to landfills.

Our collective efforts have yielded extraordinary results. Over the course of three years, Trevor’s Foodservice successfully reduced its carbon footprint from 990 t CO2 to 667 t CO2, marking a substantial 33% decrease. However, our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop here. We consider this accomplishment as another stepping stone in our ongoing journey towards a greener future.

As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our customers for their unwavering support. Your partnership and loyalty have been instrumental in driving our sustainability initiatives forward. We invite each and every one of you to join us on this transformative path.

At Trevors Foodservice, sustainability is not just a goal; it’s a way of doing business. We remain dedicated to exploring innovative solutions, collaborating with industry partners, and championing eco-conscious practices.

Thank you for being part of our sustainability journey!
